Range Scout - Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

When you use Range Scout, we may collect the following information:

• Account information: name and email address (when you register or sign in via Apple or Google).
• Subscription details: type and status of your Range Scout subscription.
• App usage data: interactions with features, crash logs, and diagnostics (via Firebase and Crashlytics).
• Device information: device type, operating system version, and anonymized identifiers for notifications.
• Location information (limited use): Range Scout may request location permission from your device. We do not continuously track or store your exact location. Instead, we use significant location changes to calculate approximate distance to nearby ranges so they can be sorted by closeness. Location data is not stored permanently.
• Range data: locations of shooting ranges (latitude/longitude) are stored in the app for display and sorting purposes.

We do not allow users to upload content (such as photos or posts).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected data to:

• Provide access to Range Scout features (maps, weather data, news feed).
• Calculate approximate distance from your current area to ranges.
• Send push notifications about updated content or severe weather conditions changes.
• Improve app performance, stability, and reliability.
• Manage your subscription and account access.

We do not use your personal information for targeted advertising.

3. Weather Data

Range Scout integrates the Apple Weather API to display weather conditions at shooting ranges. When you request weather data, range coordinates (not your device location) are shared with Apple’s service.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on third-party providers to operate Range Scout:

• Apple Weather API – weather forecasts.
• Firebase, AppCheck & Crashlytics – app stability, crash reporting, analytics.
• Google Identity Platform – sign-in and authentication.
• Apple/Google Sign-In – sign-in and authentication.

Your use of these services may also be subject to their privacy policies.

5. Data Sharing

We may share your information only in these cases:

• With service providers (listed above) to operate the App.
• To comply with legal requirements or requests from authorities.
• To protect our rights, safety, or prevent fraud/abuse.
• As part of a business transfer (e.g. merger, acquisition).

We never sell or rent your personal data.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide Range Scout’s services. You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by contacting us.

7. Security

We use technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no system can guarantee 100% security. Transmission of personal data is at your own risk.

8. Children and Age Restrictions

Range Scout is not directed at children. Some content in the App may reference firearms, ammunition, or shooting ranges, which may only be legally accessed by individuals of a certain age under local law.

During registration, users must confirm and consent that they are of the appropriate legal age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals who do not meet this requirement. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information despite this safeguard, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and stored on servers outside your country, including the European Union and the United States, where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

10. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union, you have the right to:

• Access, update, or delete your personal data.
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Withdraw consent at any time.
